In the year (1355 AH – 1935 AD) the Department of Public Works and Minerals was established and was affiliated with the Ministry of Finance at that time. In the year (1372 AH – 1952 AD), the General Directorate of Petroleum and Mineral Affairs was established and was also affiliated with the Ministry of Finance. In the year (1380 AH – 1960 AD) it was transferred Directorate To a (Ministry) under the name of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as the Kingdom’s government sought to regulate the investment of natural resources of oil, gas and minerals to achieve more growth and social prosperity, with the benefit of this country’s economic development and prosperity.
In the year (1437 AH – 2016 AD), a royal order was issued amending the name of the “Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources” to become the “Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources”. Pursuant to a royal order issued in the year (1440 AH – 2019 AD), the name of the “Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources” was changed to become the “Ministry of Energy”.
